Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. – 1 John 2:15-17
The world is full of distractions and temptations and traps that have no eternal value with the Father. They are of the Enemy and in his cunning ways, he will use them to detour your spiritual walk. But when we keep our eyes focused on Him, He will bless us with a discerning spirit to know because those traps and temptations are not always easily recognizable. But it is promised that when you seek His will and wisdom, He delivers.
Wouldn’t it be great if those detours were clearly marked? But they are not always and even through those detours, God restores us and sanctifies us. He can redeem all and use it all for His glory when we allow Him. Prayer is like bright lights on a car and helps to expose those “signs” of what is before us when we pray for our Father to give us discernment and wisdom.
