The first city-wide Earth Day Celebration was held in Mena on Saturday, April 22, in Janssen Park with many attending and learning how they can make their footprint on earth a little smaller. Many tables were set up with displays of solar-powered equipment such as fans, radios, and flashlights, as well as organically grown food, crafts for the kids, and information on how to sell your excess solar energy back to the electric company.
Two of the most popular items on display proved to be the Telsa electric car and an ELF solar-powered bicycle-car hybrid. Woodsy Owl also made an appearance, much to the delight of the children in attendance.
