Acorn Elementary to Host BEAR Family Night

Science Education Consultant and Project Wild facilitator, Kathy Rusert, has announced that Acorn Schools will coordinate with Arkansas Game and Fish to sponsor a BEAR (Be Excited About Reading) Family Night. Be Excited About Reading will be for students in grades K-3rd and their parents.

Participants will rotate through four stations: Bear Habitats in Arkansas, led by AGFC Project Wild Coordinator Pat Knighten; Bear Biology, led by AGFC  Education Liason Sheila Connerly; Bear Hunting in Arkansas, led by an AGFC Wildlife Officer; and Bear Den, which teaches about bear food (crickets, mealworms, honey, teddy Graham, water).

Each student will also choose a free book about bears to keep. The event will be held at Acorn Elementary from 6 – 8 p.m. on September 14. For more information, contact Acorn Elementary.
