Albert-Burger-1Albert B. Burger, age 85, of Mena, passed away Monday, December 07, 2015 in Mena, Arkansas.

Albert was born in Billings, Missouri, on March 22, 1930 to the late Ernest Burger and the late Theresa Schatz Burger.  He was lovingly married to Lola A. Oldham Burger and worked as a USDA Food Inspector by profession and a member of the AFGE Union. Mr. Burger proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church and enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Albert loved and enjoyed gardening, being known to have a “green thumb”. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor and working as carpenter. He was well known for being a history buff. Albert loved to travel seeing friends, family and enjoying the sights of Arkansas and other places, even if only for a day trip. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother uncle and friend to all who knew him. He will be missed dearly by all.

He is survived by wife, Lola Burger of Mena, Arkansas; sons, Howard Burger of Mena, Arkansas, Paul Burger of Beaverton, Oregon, David Burger of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mark Burger of Mena, Arkansas; daughters, Susan Daugherty of Van Buren, Arkansas, Mary Jo Burger of Little Rock, Arkansas; brothers, Floyd Burger of Billings, Missouri, Bernard Burger of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Theresa Burger, his first wife, Doris J.Burger, and a sister, Leona Theresa Burger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 11, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Celebrant John Tran.   Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Family and friends visitation will be Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Daugherty, Chris Burger, Rodney Rowland, Dr. Robert Baker, Chris Head, and Kyle Rowland.

In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.
