Amos Wesley Dixon

Amos-DixonAmos Wesley Dixon, age 83, of Mena, Arkansas, formerly of Hatton, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Mena.

He was born May 29, 1930 in Hartshorn, Oklahoma to the late Frank Amos Dixon and the late Ellie Barbara South Dixon. He was united in marriage to Anna LaVonne Ibbitson.  He was a diesel mechanic for many years and also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by wife Anna LaVonne Dixon of the home; sons Henry Wesley Dixon of DeQueen, Arkansas, Frank DeWayne Dixon of Cove, Arkansas; daughters Karla DeVee Barker of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Rhonda Ann Pollard of Smithville, Oklahoma; sister Barbara Sanders of DeQueen, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ellie Dixon; brothers Daniel and Scott; a sister Louise; and a daughter Tonya Lee Robb.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Westview Cemetery at Midway with Pastor Fred Adams officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Military honors will be rendered by the Polk County Veterans organizations.  Visitation will be general.

Pallbearers are Chris Barker, Shawn Pollard, David Dixon, Charles Dixon, Jerry Robb and Todd Scott.  Honorary pallbearers are Bailey Robb, Luke Golding, Ray Pollard, Todd Dixon, Chase Barker, Jeremiah Sanchez, and Wesley Dixon.
