The Sidewalk Project, supported by Extension Homemakers from around the County, has a fundraiser coming up to help build a sidewalk around the Education Building at the Polk County Fairgrounds. The sidewalk will run from the front door of the building, around the side, and to the road behind it. The sidewalk will benefit both exhibitors and visitors to the fair and more.
A queen-size ‘Trail Mix’ quilt, made of reproduction Civil War fabrics, is the prize for the latest fundraising effort. Tickets for a chance to win the quilt are one dollar each, six tickets for $5, and twenty tickets for $10. Tickets will be available in the Education Building during the Polk County Fair, Wednesday, September 2nd thru Saturday, September 5th. The drawing for the winning ticket will be held on Sunday, September 6th, at 2 p.m.
The quilt was donated by a member of Back Country Extension Homemakers Club, which is comprised of members from all corners of Polk County. Back Country has several other projects currently underway such as, hosting the Polk County Fair, judging exhibits at neighboring county fairs, assisting in the quilt show, and working on projects that benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
