At the Union Bank Center, on Tuesday night, January 16th, the Mena Bearcats senior high basketball team hosted the Cossatot River Eagles. Prior to the senior high game, the Mena Jr. Bearcats defeated Cossatot 49-30.
In the first quarter, Mena blew right past the Eagles, outscoring Cossatot 20-2, to take an eighteen point lead into the second. Thanks to four three-pointers by Trenton Rosson, the Eagles were able to outscore Mena 18-17 in the second, to trail by seventeen, 37-20, going into halftime.
At the half, Trenton Rosson led the Eagles with 12 points, as Connor Harvey led Mena with 24 points.
The Bearcats exerted their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Cossatot 14-8, to take a twenty-three point lead, 51-28, into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, Mena didn’t let up, continuing to extend their lead, outscoring the Eagles 13-7, to win the game by twenty-nine, 64-35.
Trenton Rosson led the Cossatot Eagles with 14 points on the night, while Juan Trinidad, Brayden Smith, and Coy Frachiseur scored 4 points each, Kolby Frachiseur 3 points, and Cody Brown, Garrett Watkins, and Brian Strother 2 points.
Connor Harvey led the Mena Bearcats with 34 points in the game, as Blake Seals added on 7 points, Daniel Davis 6 points, Nick Myers 4 points, Zane Stephens, David Grenier, and Payton Tomblin 3 points each, and Brock Strother and Marc Wilson 2 points each.
