BY BARBARA M. TOBIAS –
On June 9, 10, and 11, Bill Garrison will hold a plein air painting workshop here in Mena in conjunction with an exhibit of his work at Mena Art Gallery during the month of June. Bill is nationally recognized as an accomplished landscape painter and is an excellent teacher. Fee for this three-day workshop is $200; a list of the supplies required is available at the gallery or online at http://pages.suddenlink.net/billandgloria/garrisongallerywebsite_005.htm.
If you are not familiar with his work (or if you just want to look at some gorgeous paintings), go to this website: https://www.facebook.com/BillGarrisonFineArt/photos_stream.
Weather permitting, this three-day workshop will be held outdoors. Donna and Jimmie Wilson have given us permission to paint at their lovely location on Lake Mena. Bill says that his requirements for a painting location is that it is beautiful and has trees, rocks, and water—this one fits the description.
There are still a few places available for the workshop, which is limited to twelve students, so if you would like to work with a master for a few days, call Mena Art Gallery at 479-394-3880 to reserve your spot. And mark your calendar for Saturday, June 7, when the reception for the exhibit of Bill Garrison’s work will be held at Mena Art Gallery, 607 Mena Street, from 1 to 3 pm.
