Carol Mae LaBuy Barney, age 76, of Cherry Hill, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab. She was born Thursday, December 23, 1937 to Frank Jakub and Josephine Novak LaBuy in Chicago, Illinois.
Carol always thought a thing of beauty is a joy forever, which encompassed her thoughts of her family. She and her husband, Stephen, raised their children in a Christian home and she loved them with all her heart. She was very proud of each and every one of them. Carol attended Cherry Hill Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years there. She enjoyed decorating her home, sewing, needlework, playing the organ, gardening and ceramics. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Stephen Douglas Barney; and one brother Larry LaBuy.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law Daniel Lee and Jody Barney of Huntsville, Alabama and Stephen Andrew and Joy Barney of Cherry Hill; two daughters Sandra L. Ward of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin and Jill Annette Cabello and husband Juan of Cherry Hill; three brothers Kenneth LaBuy of Hot Springs, Arthur LaBuy of Rockton Illinois, David LaBuy of Belvedere, Illinois; four sisters Joan Shearer of Genoa, Illinois, Lois Greear of Kingsport, Tennessee, Doris Burge of Belvedere, Illinois and Sharon Nelson of Cherry Valley, Illinois; twelve grandchildren Nathaniel Barney of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Allison Barney of Nashville, Tennessee, Adam Barney of Huntsville, Alabama, Jonathan Ward of Janesville, Wisconsin, Timothy Ward of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, Misti Clark of Frisco, Texas, Phillip Savage of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Christopher Grimes of Rantoul, Illinois, Jordan Barney, Bethany Barney, Eden Barney and Keilah Barney all of Cherry Hill; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cherry Hill Baptist Church with Brother Grant Geiger officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
