Charles R. Sterner

Charles-SternerCharles R. Sterner, age 85, of Cherry Hill, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Mena.

He was born February 12, 1928 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas to the late John Sterner and the late Doll Roby Sterner. He was united in marriage to Eddlene Red on May 12,1950. He was a carpenter by trade and was also a cattleman. Mr. Sterner had a Sorgum Mill in Yocana and was a member of the Cherry Hill Fire Department. He was a member of the Board Camp Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by wife Eddlene Sterner of the home; sons Aubrey Sterner and wife Ginger Mena, Arkansas, David Sterner and wife Vicki of Van, Texas, Brian Sterner and wife Kellie of Mena, Arkansas, Peter Sterner of Dallas, Texas, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Doll Sterner; 2 sisters Inez Sterner and Mary Bowen; and 2 grandchildren Tony Sterner and Michael Ray Sterner.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Lynn Chiles officiating.  Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cherry Hill Fire Department.

Pallbearers will be Ben Sterner, Bill Sterner, Aubrey Sterner, David Sterner, Brian Sterner, and Peter Sterner.  Honorary pallbearers are Don Maxwell, Ray Parnell, Kenneth Steele, Cliff Bentley, Micheal Russell Sterner, and Dan Loomas.
