Cotton Statement on the National Day of Prayer
Washington, D.C.— Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement in recognition of the National Day of Prayer:
“In the Army ‘there are no atheists in foxholes’ is a common saying among soldiers as they reflect on their faith. While that common proverb surely contains some truth for us all, today is a day to focus on the importance of prayer in the here and now. Prayer brings us closer to God, helping us endure life’s challenges and humbling us to give thanks for life’s blessings. It is no small thing that we live in a nation where all are free to pray and worship as we please and to share our faith with others, and we are protected against persecution by the founding documents of our country. So today, on this National Day of Prayer, let us come together in quiet reflection and give thanks to God for the grace he has bestowed upon us. And let us also remember those Christians and other religious minorities around the world who are persecuted for their faith. May they find comfort in His hands.”
