Cotton Statement on the Obama Administration’s Stonewalling on $400 Million Payment to Iran

Washington, D.C.— Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on the State Department’s refusal to provide details on whether the Iranians required the plane carrying $400 million in cash to land in Iran before they would release U.S. hostages:
“The Obama administration’s stonewalling when it comes to Iran knows no bounds.  In this case, silence is damning.  When the administration repeatedly refuses to answer basic questions about the plane carrying the $400 million cash payment, it serves to confirm what is obvious to any reasonable observer: the administration paid a ransom for hostages.  The ayatollahs clearly know when that unmarked plane landed in Iran—why can’t the American people know as well?”
