How would you like to learn how to make some simple crafts that are fun, creative and attractive? Plan to attend one of the sessions of a Craft Workshop on October 8, from 6-8 pm, or October 10, from 10am-noon. The same crafts will be taught both days – we are just giving you the choice of attending the evening or Saturday session.
One of the leaders will teach a silk scarf dyeing project that is very easy to do and has a watercolor look to it. The scarf is white and you will choose your color or colors to add.
A cute reindeer will be demonstrated that can be used as a pin, magnet or ornament. This will be determined by whether you put a pin or magnet on the back, or a string to hang it as an ornament.
T-shirts can be recycled into a stylish necklace. Bring one you have or we will have some available.
Find out how you can turn a half circle of fabric into a Christmas tree ornament, or with a larger piece of fabric, it will become a napkin. The larger size can be made in any fabric to make seasonal napkins of your choice. One lady said she made some for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Birthday, and another set was made from fall fabric. We will provide the fabric to make the small one with instructions so you can make some at home in any size or fabric.
Everyone will want to make the cute Santa that can be completed with hand stitching some fabric and felt, and then gluing some extra items on to complete the project.
A final project will involve making a Coconut Oil Scrub and Herbal Bath Salt. These will be mixed using simple ingredients and stored in a jar. They can be soothing to your skin and also make great gifts.
This craft workshop will run for two hours although you don’t need to stay the entire time. Crafts will be quickly demonstrated then you can go to the table of your choice and actually make the craft, or as many as you want. Cost for each craft is $3, except the Christmas tree will be free. Take home instructions will also be offered for all crafts.
Please call the Extension Office in Mena at 479-394-6018 so we will know how many kits to make. We want to make sure we have enough for everyone.
