“Godspell” Auditions, 4 Weddings, and OLT Movie Party

SUBMITTED –

February is a busy month at Ouachita Little Theatre.  Auditions have been announced for the spring musical production of “Godspell”, which will be held Tuesday and Thursday, February 13 and 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the theatre.

This groundbreaking production originally debuted in 1971 and is based on a series of parables from the gospels of Matthew and Luke. The memorable song “Day by Day” is from this musical and has earned worldwide recognition and appeal. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing the chorus of “God Save the People” from the production and are encouraged to sing a solo of any cast character for which they want to try out.

“Four Weddings and an Elvis” opens this Friday, February 9 with remaining performances at the theatre on February 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18.  Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m.  A special performance is being held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at Mena Mountain Resort.  Dinner is at 6:00 p.m., followed by the show at 7:30 p.m.  Reservations for this unique showing must be made through the resort by calling 479-394-3110. For the Valentine’s performance, season ticket holders pay $20 for the meal. All non-season ticket holders get the package deal of $32 including dinner and the play. Remember, for all shows at OLT, you can pick up your reserved seats at the theatre office weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Of course, tickets will also be available at the box office immediately prior to each show at the OLT.

The Wednesday night movie party, which is usually held on the second Wednesday of the month, will be moved back one week to February 21 to allow patrons to attend the Valentine’s Day play. The February movie has a Valentine’s Day theme, and stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in one of the most popular romantic comedies of all time, “Sleepless in Seattle.” Join us at 6:30 p.m. for fresh popcorn, a great film, and an evening among friends.
