High School Track teams from around the region attended the Mansfield Senior Tiger Relays on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, including teams from Mena and Acorn and a couple of runners from Cossatot River.
In high school senior girls action, Mena senior Abbie Smith came home with a first place win in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:34.37. Jayzlee Bahr of Mena placed second in the long jump with 15 ft. 4 in. and second in triple jump with 31 ft. 5 in.
Other Mena girls results include taking 6th in both the 4x100m relay and 4x800m relay. Kelsey Wiggins took 8th in the 200m dash and Bahr took 8th in the 100m.
Acorn’s Faith Hill took second place in the 1,600m run in 6:20.51 and Morgan Fagan took 3rd in the 800m run in 2:51.41.The Acorn senior girls 4x800m relay team took 4th in 12:10.15.
Mena senior boys fared well with Jonny Gunn taking second place in the shot put with a 30 ft. 10.5 in. throw. Landon Stidman took second in high jump with a 6 ft. jump. The senior boys’ 4x800m relay team pulled out second place in 8:56.41.
Cross Hughes took second place in the 400m dash in 53.67 with William Shaner right on his heals in third with 55.64. Shaner also took fourth in the 200m in 24.28. Clint Buck took third place in the 800m in 2:13.4 with Hughes coming in fifth in 2:19.01. Buck also placed third in the 1,600m run in 5:01.79 and fourth in pole vault with a 10 ft. vault. Joe Looney placed seventh in the 3,200m run in 12:33.51.
Acorn senior boys had Kobe Hogan place fourth in the 300m hurdles in 49.6 and their 4x100m relay team took fifth in 48.23.
Cossatot River had two runners in the 400m dash with Keelan Youngblood placing sixth in 57.36. Marco Ramirez took 28th in 1:08.85.
