Jerry Morton Dover, 85 died Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Mena. He was born to Delter (Dan) Dover and Viva Herring Dover on March 7, 1933 in Hatfield, Arkansas.Jerry worked many years as an engineer for Phillips Oil Co., Texas Instruments, and E-Systems. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his own private planes. He was a longtime member of the local chapter of the Civil Air Patrol and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jerry also enjoyed astronomy and hand built several telescopes.
He had a beautiful voice and love to sing, especially to his grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three children.
Jerry is survived by his Wife of 64 years Johnnie Frost Dover. His son Clifton Dover of Mena, Arkansas. Daughters Sabrina Stafford of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Diana Davis of Mena, Arkansas. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His sisters JoAnne Taylor of Oregon and Rachel Rooney of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Several nieces and nephews. Jerry loved his Savior and his family and will be missed.
His body was sent for cremation and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel with military honors by the local VFW chapter. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
