The Junior Ouachita Little Theatre (JOLT) will be presenting the play Tom Sawyer July 14-16 and again July 21-23. JOLT is an organization sponsored by Ouachita Little Theatre, but run independent of OLT. JOLT is comprised of young people ages 6 to 18 and is guided by the adult sponsor, Judy Kropp. Judy has been holding JOLT workshops at the theatre every third Thursday at 4:30 p.m., teaching the youngsters about all aspects of theatre work. Tom Sawyer is populated with many of the folks who have been attending these workshops. Scotty Jenkins and Alexa Night, two adult leaders, have been directing this show.
Since JOLT is a separate organization, OLT season passes are not valid for this show. Since JOLT is its own organization, it reimburses the OLT for its use of the theatre just like anyone who rents the theatre for their event. As a result, the admission price JOLT collects goes to pay for theatre use, as well as direct expenses associated with their shows. Any profit is rolled back into doing JOLT projects.
Some have asked if the “Bonus Show” on the season pass can be used for a JOLT production. The short answer is no. The bonus was intended for season ticket holders to attend the OLT sponsored events like the Benson Awards or other special OLT musical programs held at irregular intervals throughout the year. The bonus can also be used to attend multiple performances of the same show.
These are the current OLT policies set forth by the OLT Board and voted on by the general membership. They are always looking for ways to improve the theatre program. If you have any suggestions feel free to contact any board member or, better yet, attend one of their board meetings. Everyone is welcome.
