Mena and Cossatot River school districts sent their junior track and field teams to the Mansfield Junior Tiger Relays on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Several ribbons were brought back to the county. The results include:
Mena’s Alex Harper brought home a first place ribbon in the 800m run in 2:41.59, and Jayden Harris pulled out first in the 1,600m run in 6:17.4. Julianna Kennedy also placed in the 1,600m, taking fifth in 6:42.18. The girls 4x800m relay team brought home second in 11:37.45, while the 4x100m relay team and 4x400m relay team both took third in 58.51 and 5:02.58, respectively.
In the 100m hurdles, Lauren Sikes took third in 19.17 and Emily Wagner took 5th in 19.84. Wagner also took seventh in the high jump. Andrea Maechler took fourth in the 200m dash in 30.51 and sixth in the 100m dash in 14.64. Ciara Lance took sixth in the 400m dash in 1:11.43. In the 300m hurdles, Paige Evans took 7th in 58.33 and Lauren Sikes took eighth in 58.59.
Madison Birtcher took third in the discus with a 74, and Bethany Goodwin placed eighth in the shot put with 29-7.5.
Cossatot River’s Savannah White took seventh in the 400m dash in 1:11.53.
Mena junior boys 4x800m relay team took first place in 9:36.66. Devin Adams brought home second place in the 88m in 2:16.10. Zane Stephens secured second in the long jump with a 17-9. Stephens also took third in the 200m dash in 25.71.
Thaddaeus Nance took third in pole vault, tying with Mathew McCravens, with both vaulting 8-6. Blake Castor took third in discus with 117 and Braxton Bahr took seventh with 113-9. Bahr also took fifth in the shot put with 43-9.5. Mark Wilson took fifth in triple jump with 35, followed by Caleb Holmes in seventh with 34-3. Holmes also took fourth in 100m dash in 12.56.
The 4x100m relay team took fourth place in 49.94 and the 4x400m relay took seventh in 4:19.30. Chris Bollmeyer took fifth in the 110m hurdles in 18.81 as well as eighth place in high jump with 5 ft. In the 1,600m run, Logan Myers took fifth in 5:32.40 and Damon Clark took eighth in 5:39.8.
