Monday night, January 8th, the Cossatot River Lady Eagles took on the Dierks Lady Outlaws in their first game of the Cossatot River Sr. High Basketball Tournament.
In a low scoring first quarter, both teams scored just seven points each, to go into the second tied. Outscoring the Lady Outlaws 12-10 in the second quarter, Cossatot took a two point, 19-17, lead into halftime.
Halle Mounts led Dierks with 7 points at halftime, while Ashlen Gonzalez led the Lady Eagles with 14 points.
In the third quarter, Cossatot extended its lead, outscoring Dierks 12-6, to take an eight point, 31-23, lead into the final quarter of play. The Lady Eagles did not let up in the fourth, extending their lead by four more, outscoring the Lady Outlaws 5-1, to win the game by twelve, 36-24.
Dalany Eckert and Halle Mounts both led the Dierks Lady Outlaws with 7 points on the night, as Jacie Sims and Gracie Thomas added on 3 points each, Gabby Strasner 2 points, and Jaycee Runnels and Ashton Alexander 1 point each.
Player of the Game Ashlen Gonzalez led the Cossatot Lady Eagles with 14 points, while Raegan Richardson scored 8 points, Jacie Wilkerson and Harley Dearing 5 points each, and Rhyen Martin and Jade Richardson 2 points each.
The Lady Eagles will take on the Caddo Hills Lady Indians on Thursday at 7:00 p.m., in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Also Monday night, the Cossatot senior boys took on the Outlaws of Dierks but were defeated 71-53.
