Lauren Ashley Cobb

Lauren-cobbLauren Ashley Cobb, 25, passed away suddenly at her home in Monroe, Louisiana on March 8, 2014.

She was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Lauren was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on September 19, 1988. She graduated from Rapides High School in LeCompte, Louisiana in 2006. She graduated fifth in her class with high honors. She was a member of National Honor Society and listed in the Academic Hall of Fame. She was a member of Rapides Parish Teen Court where she attended the 2005 National Youth Leadership forum on medicine in Louisiana. She represented her school in Biology and Accounting in Regional Literary Rally competition in Shreveport, winning 1st place in both of them. Lauren earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in November 2013 from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). She was an active member of Pi Sigma Epsilon and traveled to Greece with them as the historian.

Lauren was a soft spoken, sweet and loving person. She was an “old soul”. She never realized how many lives she touched with her tenderness and kind heart. She loved nature from a young age and loved hiking, exploring and fishing with her family especially her father. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, art and beautifying older homes. Lauren had a compassionate heart for animals and enjoyed volunteering for worthy causes. While gone too soon, she will be loved and remembered by her family and friends.

Lauren leaves behind her grandmother Catherine Cobb of Monroe, Louisiana; her mother Deanne Cobb Friend Woods and husband James Woods of Mena, AR/Hugo, OK; her father Carlton Cobb of Homer, Louisiana; one sister Carolyn Cobb of Mena, AR. Lauren leaves behind her spiritual life companion David Hollis of Monroe, LA, they shared in the Church of God faith. Two uncles Pat Evans and wife Patricia of Glenview, Illinois, Mike Cobb of Sante Fe, Texas; three aunts Donna Norman and husband Richard of West Monroe, LA. Shannon Pearce and husband Ronnie of Mena, AR and Lydia McCourtney and husband Don of Mena, AR; eight cousins Tracy Cobb, Joel Ashcraft, David Norman, Megan Ashcraft, Leslie McCourtney, Rebecca Ryan, Benjamin Norman and Christopher McCourtney.

Lauren was preceded in death by her grandfather Don Cobb of LA; granddad Carl Evans; and grandmother Mary Evans of Mena, AR.

Visitation will be this Wednesday, March 12th between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Grace Bible Church, Mena, AR under the direction of Pastor Lamar Austin on Thursday, March 13th at 2 p.m. with burial at Concord Cemetery, Ink, AR. Arrangements are entrusted to the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers will be Carlton Cobb, James Woods, Don McCourtney, Christopher McCourtney, Joel Ashcraft and Phillip Roberts. Honorary pallbearer is Tony Ryan.
