Lawmakers in Little Rock have approved a measure that would be one of the strongest in the nation in protecting the lives of the unborn. The House voted 75 to 13 on legislation that would require a 72 hour waiting period before having an abortion. The current waiting period is 48 hours. Senators had approved the bill, but it will now return to the Senate to consider an amendment. Six other states have the same waiting period. Utah, Oklahoma, Missouri, South Dakota and North Carolina currently require 72 hours wait before an abortion is had.
