Lioness Continue Support of Adopt-A-Highway Program

The Mena Lioness Lions continue to support the Adopt-A-Highway program through the Arkansas Department of Transportation. The Lioness Club cleans their highway mile twice per year and enjoy doing their part to keep the highway and state beautiful.

According to the Ark. Dept. of Transportation, more than 100,000 acres of right-of-way are to be maintained along the 16,419-mile state highway system. Not only does it detract from our state’s natural beauty, it costs Arkansas taxpayers nearly $4 million annually to pick up. “The object of the program is to increase public awareness of the monumental task of managing Arkansas’ rights-of-way and to promote public involvement,” said officials.
