Two local Masonic lodges held their annual awards banquet on Saturday, November 4th, and honored several masons, as well as community members for their efforts in serving those around them.
Dallas Masonic Lodge #128 honored Linda Johnson with their Community Service Award. Johnson is the commander for the local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and was instrumental in bringing The Wall That Heals to Mena in Spring 2017. Robert Lancaster, a mason and commander of the local American Legion, was honored with the Outstanding Lodge Service Award. Their Mason of the Year Award was givien to Terry Ford. “I’ve been in the Army and have known fellowship… I’ve been in law enforcement and known fellowship… nothing beats the fellowship of the Masons,” said Ford upon receiving the award.
Polk County Chief Deputy Randy Jewell was honored to receive the Community Service Award from Mountain Meadow Lodge #218. Jewell was named as the Sheriff’s Department’s ‘second in command’ following Scott Sawyer’s election as sheriff. Hatfield Mayor Linda Denton and Cove Constable Jim Corrazo also received Community Service Awards from Mountain Meadow Lodge #218. Terry Fuquay was awarded their Mason of the Year Award. Fuquay also received a Masters Award from the Dallas Lodge for his dedication to the Masons.
One of the highest awards a member can receive in the Masons is the Pillars of Solomon. The Dallas Lodge honored Randall Webster with the award and Dezi Bowles received Mountain Meadow’s.
Special awards were given to three Grand Lodge officers. Teddy Holmes, Grand Lecturn of Arkansas, William J.R. Hartsfield, District Deputy Grand Master of the 11th District, and Gene Simmons, District Deputy Grand Master of the 15th District, were all given Certificates of Appreciation.
In Lodge Service Awards, Dallas #128 awarded Jack Peebles, Rusty Gonzales, Dezi Bowles, Terry Fuquay, Robert Lancaster, Terry Ford, and Bobby Brewer. The ladies of the Order of the Easter Start #243 were also honored. They include: Judy Omstead, Sandy Brooks, Jody Jennings, Cindy Webster, and Sherry Fuquay. Mountain Meadow #218 awarded Mark Lazarus, Don Davis, and Larry Winfield.
The Dallas Masonic Lodge #128 is led by Grand Worshipful Master Don Davis and they meet monthly at their lodge, located in the old post office across from Janssen Park. Mountain Meadow Lodge #218 is led by Grand Worshipful Master Mike Campbell and they meet monthly at the Masonic Lodge in Hatfield.
