Local Softball Teams Finish Successfully

On Monday night, May 1st, the Acorn Lady Tigers softball team (5-5) took on the Kirby Lady Trojans in their last regular season game.

Acorn gave up one run in the top of the first on Monday night, but answered with nine runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Trojans were able to score one more run off of Acorn in the top of the third, but were held scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Lady Tigers defeated Kirby in five innings, with a final score of 12-2.

Congratulations to Coach Ledbetter, and seniors, as well as the rest of the Lady Tigers on a successful 2017 regular season.

The Mena Ladycats (11-16) softball team played host to the Bauxite Lady Miners in the first round of the 7-4A District Tournament on April 28th.

Bauxite scored four runs in the first inning, and held the Ladycats to one run. Then, the Miners added on quite a few insurance runs in the second, scoring 13. The Lady Miners won the game in three innings by 16 runs, 17-1.

Mena will move on to the 4-A South Regional Tournament in Monticello, and take on the Billies (23-4) in the first round on May 4th.
