Manley Albert Hamilton, age 90, of Mena, Arkansas died Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home. He was born on Saturday, August 17, 1923 to Ernest Justin and Ethel Kelso Hamilton in Union City, Pennsylvania.
Manley served in the United States Navy during World War II as a cook. After his service he married and started his family and worked for over forty years as a meat cutter and butcher. He loved spending time with his family and seeing the grandchildren. Manley also loved the outdoors, working in his gardens and flowers beds. He also enjoyed reading and going on walks. Manley was a Christian and attended Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church in Mena. Manley was a loving father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marjorie Hamilton; four brothers; and two sisters.
Manley is survived by his two sons Jerry Hamilton of Ramona, California and Jim Hamilton and wife Nancy of Tujunga, California; one daughter Carol Vonk and husband, Ken of Mena; six grandchildren Adriane, Sandra, Rebecca, Ryan, Robert and Andrew; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
