Ouachita Little Theatre’s Spring musical is the wildly popular Mary Poppins. Advance reserve tickets go on sale Thursday, April 20. Tickets can be purchased at the theatre on weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. They may also be purchased on evenings that rehearsals are taking place.
“This is a deviation from our usual practice,” said OLT President Rudi Timmerman. “For years our good friends at ARVEST Bank sold the tickets for us. We thank them for that. However, with our remodeling, we now have an office in the theatre itself and it is there that the tickets can be purchased from an OLT volunteer.” Tickets for unsold seats may be purchased at the door. However, the musicals are very popular and in order that our patrons have the best possible seat, it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. By so doing, your personal seat will be reserved.
Season ticket holders should stop by and reserve their prepaid seats as well. Season tickets will be honored at the door if there are unsold seats available. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. To promote our season ticket sales, if you join prior to Mary Poppins you will get that ticket free in addition to the four shows on the season ticket, including next year’s musical, Godspell. Membership and a season ticket is $40 for an individual or $100 for the entire immediate family. Whatever your option, it can be handled at the theatre ticket office.
Mary Poppins will be presented Friday, May 5, Saturday, May 6 at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, May 7 at 2:30 pm. The next weekend they are again deviating from tradition. Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 will open the weekend’s shows. Along with the Thursday show, American Artisans, across the street from the theatre, is offering a pre-show dinner. The combined price for dinner and the show will be $26 for adults and $18 for kids. With your season ticket the cost for dinner is $11 for adults and $8 for kids. Rick is offering the following menu choices:
Adults: Chicken salad & sprouts on a croissant with Broccoli/Cauliflower salad, drink and cookie. Or Ham & egg salad on multigrain with Broccoli/Cauliflower salad, drink and cookie Kids: Turkey, lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayo Roll-up with chips, drink and cookie. Or Toasted Cheese sandwich with chips, drink and cookie. Drinks include soft drinks, sweet or unsweet tea, coffee and water.
The Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13 shows start at 7:30. There will be no show on Sunday, May 14, that is Mother’s Day and Mena High School Graduation. It is therefore anticipated that the Sunday, May 7 show may sell out early since it will be the only Sunday show. All shows feature a live orchestra. The cast and crew are made up of the most talented folks around, and directors Rudi Timmerman and Judy Kropp invite you to join them for Mary Poppins at the Ouachita Little Theatre.
