The McMillan Park Pool will open it’s doors once again this Saturday, August 27th, after weeks of waiting to have filters replaced and pass inspection. On Saturday, adult swim hours will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and general swim hours will be 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. This Sunday, the pool will open for general swim from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
The same hours will be held next weekend. This Saturday, August 27th, admission will be free all day for all swimmers. General admission on Sunday and the following weekend is $3 for general; kids 5 and under, $1.50; and adult swim on Saturday, $1.50.
The pool has been closed since June due to necessary repairs to the filtering system. Luther Stem Pools and Spas was approved to replace the filters that were installed in the 1970’s. The cost was estimated to be at least $18,400 for the eight new filters and their installation.
Since installation was completed, the pool had to pass state inspection. Although it failed the first inspection last week, it passed this week, allowing for area swimmers to enjoy the pool a couple of more times before the season is up.
Parks Director Nathan Fowler, said, “I’m excited to finally get it up and running and I hope to see a bunch of people there.”
