June 9, 2014 – All Arkansas Blood Institute (ABI) donors at a Mena community blood drive will receive two admissions to the Tulsa Zoo. Those who make time to give Monday, June 16, between noon and 5:45 p.m., at the St. Agnes Parish Hall can enjoy summer fun at this outstanding tourist attraction in our neighboring state. T-shirts, featuring the Zoo’s snow leopard, will also be given to each one who gives.
“It’s easy to get busy with summer vacations and other activities and forget about those facing life-threatening health situations instead of summer fun,” said John Armitage, M.D., ABI president and CEO. “Giving just an hour this summer will make a life-saving difference for someone in our community.”
Those who prefer to forgo the T-shirt can support ABI’s international partner, Global Blood Fund. This enables Arkansas Blood Institute to make a contribution to the nonprofit for its efforts to strengthen struggling, voluntary blood centers around the world.
Anyone who is healthy and 16 years of age* can usually give blood, and donations can be made every 56 days. Appointment to donate are not required but can be made by calling Greg Womack at 479-652-2362 or visiting arkbi.org.
