Students in the Mena Middle School EAST classrooms have been preparing for weeks to host an event for veterans as worthy as the veterans themselves. Although an arduous task, the students and faculty put in the hard work to present the program on Thursday, November 2, and it was well-received by those in attendance.
The Mena High School Performing Arts Center was nearly packed with both veterans and veterans’ families. Over the course of the last several weeks, students have spent several days interviewing veterans to document their stories and include them in the program. Students also made ‘goodie bags’ and, in a show of utmost respect, veterans were escorted to their seats by students.
More Veteran’s Day activities are planned for this week. Check out the Veteran’s Day section on pages 16-17 of this edition for more information.
