Mena Police Department – February 16 – 22, 2014

The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of February 16 – February 22, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

February 16, 2014

Three local youths were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

February 17, 2014

A local woman reported a theft from her residence.  Case is pending.

February 18, 2014

Report was taken of a theft from a local retail store.  Officers are awaiting warrants for an individual identified from surveillance tape.

Krystalynn N. Ollar, 23, of Mena was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Also charged in the incident was Brandon Falls, 28, of Mena with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kenneth Gene Wedge, 30, of Mena was arrested on two outstanding felony warrants from Polk County.

Kenneth Wayne Weisinger, 24, of Mena was served two outstanding felony warrants.

February 19, 2014

Daniel Chaney, 18, of Mena was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  Charged in the incident with curfew violation was a 15-year-old Mena youth.

February 20, 2014

Alithia Violet Shifflett, 39, of Cove was charged with one count of felony possession of a controlled substance and one count each of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

A woman reported that someone had stolen her purse while she was shopping at a local retail store.  The purse was later located.

Jason Scott Tallant, 37, of Mena was charged with public intoxication after officers observed him walking on the shoulder of Highway 71.

February 21 2014

Employees at a local convenience store reported a gas-skip.  The driver later returned to pay for the gasoline.  No charges were filed.

Betty Carol Rodgers, 70, of Norman, Arkansas was charged with DWI and driving left of center.  The arrest followed a call from dispatch regarding an erratic driver complaint.

February 22, 2014

Steven Goins, 39, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Polk County Sheriff’s office.

Officers completed an additional six reports and worked six accidents.
