The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of March 9 – March 15, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
March 9, 2014
Ronald A. Mowdy, 20, of Mena was charged with theft of property (shoplifting) after a call to a local retail store. Other arrests may follow.
Leroy Stokes, 69, of Mena was charged with public intoxication after a call to a local residence.
March 10, 2014
A local woman reported that her former boyfriend has been harassing her and following her. Case is pending.
Owner of a local garage reported that several items had been stolen from vehicles on his property. Case is pending interview of suspect.
A Mena man reported that someone had stolen the top of a birdbath from his yard. Case is pending.
March 11, 2014
Donnie Baer, 35, of Mena was charged with third degree battery after a call to a local residence.
March 12, 2014
A local woman reported that a former friend has been harassing her by calling and leaving messages on her cell phone. Officers talked with the suspect, and she agreed to stop contacting the victim.
A Mena woman reported that someone had entered her unlocked car and taken several items. The car was parked in her carport at the time. Case is pending.
A 13-year-old Mena youth was charged with theft of property (shoplifting) after officers were called to a local grocery store.
Owner of an ice machine in Mena reported that it had been vandalized. Case is pending.
March 13, 2014
Tony D. Curry, 37, of Mena was charged with battery and felony false imprisonment after a call to a local residence.
March 14, 2014
Michael Lee Brown, 28, of Mena, and Michael A. Smith, 27, of Cove were charged with disorderly conduct after officers were called to a fight in progress at a local residence.
Sean T. Henry, 20, of Cove was charged with criminal trespass after a call to a local laundromat.
Ronald Andrew Mowdy, 20, of Mena was charged with breaking or entering and theft of property. The arrest followed a report of the theft of a gun and a subsequent investigation.
Aaron Ollar, 26, of Mena was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, as well as being served with two outstanding warrants from Polk County.
March 15, 2014
A local man reported that someone stole his wallet and that his debit card has been used to make several purchases. Case is pending review of surveillance tapes.
A local man reported that someone broke into his pickup stole a socket set and a wrench set. Case pending.
Officers completed an additional nine reports and worked four accidents.
