Mena Police Department – May 25-31, 2014

The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of May 25-31, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

May 25, 2014

Angela Goins, 38, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A Mena woman reported that her cell phone was stolen from her vehicle.  The phone was inside her unlocked car.

Nathan Tyler Strother, 27, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant.

May 26, 2014

A local man reported that his daughter’s estranged husband had stolen a pistol.  Case is pending.

May 27, 2014

A local motel owner reported that an individual purporting to be with a utility company had scammed him.  Case is under investigation.

May 28, 2014

A local woman reported that she was being harassed and threatened.  Case is pending interview of suspect.

Katelyn Enyeart, 21, Jose Mowdy, 19 both of Mena have been charged with a total of 11 counts each of theft and Enyeart with one count of theft by receiving.  Donnie L Baer, 35, also of Mena, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Mikel Thomas, 25, of Mena was charged with obstructing governmental operations, and David J. Hill, 41, also of Mena was charged with obstructing governmental operations and allowing an unauthorized driver to operate his vehicle.  The arrests followed a call to an altercation at Janssen Park.

May 29, 2014

Report was taken from employees of the local swimming pool of the theft of cases of candy and ice cream from the concession area of the pool.  Case is pending.

Rachel Denise Crow, 34, of Mena was charged with theft-of-property (shoplifting) after a call to a local retail store.

May 30, 2014

A local couple reported that someone had kicked their front door off the frame.  It did not appear that they had entered the residence, and nothing was found to be missing.

William Jeremy Barnes, 35, of Carlisle was charged with theft-of-property (shoplifting) after an incident in the alley behind a local business.

A local woman reported that she is being threatened by an acquaintance.  Case is pending.

May 31, 2014

A local woman reported that someone had stolen all her prescription medication.  She had just gotten the medications filled.  Case is pending.

Thomas Barber, 20, of Mena was charged with theft-of-property (shoplifting) after a call to a local retail store.

Matthew Warren Hackworth, 29, of Pencil Bluff was charged with public intoxication, refusal to submit to arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Officers completed an additional 10 reports and worked three accidents.

Please be aware that scams regarding people saying they are with a law enforcement or utility companies are calling individuals saying that they need to purchase a green dot card and supply the caller with the information from the card or be at risk of having their utilities disconnected.  This is a scam, as reputable utility companies do not do business with green dot cards.  BE AWARE.
