The following information was received from the Mena Police Department for the week of October 20 – October 26, 2013. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
October 20, 2013
A local woman reported that someone had broken into her home while she was away and that they had stolen several items. Case is pending further investigation and interview of suspect.
Hernice Lorenzo Coleman, 31, of Atlanta, Texas was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a call to the local bus station regarding an unruly passenger.
October 21, 2013
A Mena man reported that someone had stolen his father’s wheel chair out of the back of his pickup truck. Case is pending.
A Mena woman reported that her wallet had been stolen from her home. A local business owner later called to say that a wallet had been placed in their after-hours slot. The wallet was returned to the victim. The only thing missing was cash.
Owner of a local car sales reported that someone had damaged a motorcycle that was on the property. Case is pending review of surveillance tape.
October 22, 2013
A local woman reported that someone had stolen her dog from her yard. The dog was located by the animal control officer and returned to the woman.
A local man reported the theft of a four-wheeler from his property. Case is pending.
October 23, 2013
Report was taken of two girls having a physical fight at Janssen Park. Case is pending interview of all suspects and witnesses.
A Mena woman reported that someone had torn the door from her mailbox. Case is pending.
October 24, 2013
Zachary Lee Bryan, 21, of Mena was charged with assault and terroristic threatening after a call to a local residence.
Stephen Ray Goins, 38, of Mena was charged with third degree battery after a call to a local residence.
Alberto Zamarippa, 39, of Mena turned himself into officers on an outstanding warrant for failure-to-appear.
October 25, 2013
A Mena man reported the theft of a substantial amount of scrap iron from his property. Case is pending further investigation.
October 26, 2013
A local resident reported a fight between two women. When officers arrived, one of the women had left the scene and the other did not wish to speak to authorities. Witnesses at the scene advised that the incident was verbal only and that no physical contact had been made.
Officers completed an additional nine reports and worked seven accidents.
