The staff at Mena Regional Health System recently participated in The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative, a comprehensive platform designed to increase awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. Nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented. Cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat. It is important that women learn the warning signs and symptoms of heart disease and stroke, see a doctor regularly and learn their family history. On the first Friday of every February, which is designated as American Heart Month, the nation comes together, igniting a wave of red from coast to coast.
