Mena School Board Holds Monthly Meeting

The Mena School Board received a treat at their monthly meeting held on Tuesday, January 17. Holly Harshman Elementary FLASH CATS presented a puppet show, titled The Grossest Link, that explained the bad effects of smoking.

The training students are given as puppeteers is made possible through a $10,000 drug, alcohol, and child abuse awareness grant secured by HHE’s afterschool program.

Paulette Crawford and Cindy Brevik are FLASH CATS coordinators and are shown pictured with puppeteers, Jordan Wagner, Abby Felix, Heidi Wells, Hailey Emerson, and Denton Warner.

Also at the Mena School Board meeting, Danny Minton reported that the district’s two newest busses being added to the fleet are available for pick up. Superintendent Benny Weston’s contract was also renewed for a term of three years, ending in the 2019-2020 school year.

Mena Middle School Principal Cliff Sherrer also discussed the most recent success at MMS.

The Mena School Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Administration Office. The public is welcome to attend.
