“Miss May”, as she was known to most of her friends, was born in Ft. Smith, AR, to Laurinda Lambert Whitson and Benjamin Harrison Whitson, May 16, 1920.
May married Ancil H. Moran in Ft. Smith, AR, April 8, 1939. Ancil and May were a devoted couple for 55 years. Ancil died in 1994. May loved Mena and maintained her residency here for a total of 58 years. May not only was a loving partner to Ancil in running his businesses but she owned her own Antique and Health Food Store in Mena for many years. She was known and loved for her quick wit, great cooking, and positive attitude toward life and was a long-time member of the Harmony Primitive Baptist Church in Mena.
Nettie May is predeceased by her parents; five siblings Harrison, Edward, Carl, Benjamin Jr., Thelma Whitson Smith; and son Ancil Fletcher Ben Moran. She is survived by her daughter Donna Moran Dover, Fayetteville, AR; son Thomas Kelsey Moran of Mena; two daughters-in-law Janet Moran and Carol Moran Burns; seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Phillip Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, November 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Neil Moran, Laura Moran, Scott Moran, Jeremy McMellon, Kyle Moran, Brandon McMellon, and Andy Philpot. Honorary pallbearers are Kim and Mike Whitson, Miah and Mark Dover, Marla Moran , Elizabeth Moran Hendrix, and Adam McMellon.
