With the set being painted, costumes being sewn, lighting positions being perfected, and special effects being tested, the Ouachita Little Theatre is coming alive in the form of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Taking on any project of this magnitude is time consuming and requires a special eye for detail. Director Rudi Timmerman has that eye and is bringing detail to this show like no other. Timmerman stated, “If you’re familiar with the movie, you know there are a lot of special effects so you can see what sort of challenges we are facing.” The director and staff have risen to this challenge and are meeting it with spectacular results.
Some of the effects include a “Wonka-vator” (Willy Wonka’s elevator), a vacuum tube to fit Augustus Gloop, and Choco-vision (part of Mike TV’s factory experience), as well as flying characters.
