Polk County Sheriff’s Department July 29 – August 4

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of July 29 – August 4, 2013.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

July 29, 2013

Arrested was Rebecca A. James, 27, of Mena, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report from complainant on Highway 88 East near the Yocana community of the theft of clothing, valued at $1,200.00.  Arrested was Randi N. Hall, 18, and Dymond J. Roberts, 19, both of Mena, on Charges of Theft and Criminal Trespass.

Report of maltreatment of horses on Polk 23 near Cove led to a citation being issued to Phillip W. Miranda, 46, of Cove, on Charges of three counts of Cruelty to Animals.

Arrested was Richard C. James, 34, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support.

July 30, 2013

Report from complainant on Highway 278 East near Wickes of forged checks, totaling losses at $3,350.00.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of cows running loose on Polk 73 near the Ink community led to a citation being issued to Beth S. Hegner, 72, of Mena, on a Charge of Permitting Livestock to Run at Large.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Christopher W. Ralston, 42, of Cove, on two Body Attachment Warrants.

July 31, 2013

Report from complainant on Highway 71 South near Hatfield of the theft of twelve metal trusses, valued at $400.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 189 near Mena led to the arrest of John K. Robertson, 38, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Report from complainant on Polk 75 near the Acorn community of a broken vehicle mirror, causing damages of $50.00, and of receiving threatening phone calls.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested were the following subjects:  Alban R. Beckwith, 21, of Mena, on Charges of Fleeing and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Warrant for Probation Violation and Failure to Appear; Amanda S. Dodds, 33, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Hindering Apprehension; Amber N. Beck, 31, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Brian E. Charles, 33, of Cotton Valley, LA, on Charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Hindering Apprehension; and Ronald A. Hart, 53, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Arrested was Teresa M. Denton, 41, of Mena, on Charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Use of a Communication Device and Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Issued a Citation was Sandra Murphy, 23, of Mena, on a Charge of two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 2nd Degree.

Arrested was Loretta M. St. John, 60, of Mena, on a Warrant for Arson.

August 3, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 77 near Mena of cruelty to an animal.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a disturbance at an establishment on Highway 71 North near Mena resulting in $50.00 in damages to a vehicle.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Polk 60 near the Board Camp community of the theft of a heat/air unit valued at $500.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Greenbriar Lane near Mena of the theft of a heat/air unit valued at $500.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 69 near the Opal community of the theft of a firearm valued at $300.00.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a small child that had been hit by a vehicle at a local ballpark.  The victim was transported to Mena Regional Health System, and then airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 71 near the Ink community led to the arrest of Austin C. McCulley, 18, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Assault on a Family or Household Member 3rd Degree.

August 4, 2013

Report of a disturbance at the Polk County Detention Center resulted in the arrest of Billy P. Souther, 27, of Cove, on a Charge of Criminal Mischief.
