Polk County Sheriff’s Department: July 7-13, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of July 7 – July 13, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

July 7, 2014

Report from the Polk County Detention Center of an injury sustained in the facility.  Inmate was transported to Mena Regional Health System for treatment.  It was later determined that the inmate inflicted the injury upon himself.

July 8, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of $300.00 in damages to a vehicle.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Love Lee Lane near the Potter community of the theft of natural materials valued at $50.00.  Investigation continues.

July 9, 2014

Report of a disturbance on Polk 710 near Potter.  Suspect was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

Report from a Mena woman of an unauthorized person in their residence.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

July 10, 2014

Report from complainant that while at a church on Polk 70 in the Cherry Hill community a vehicle window was broken and a purse, phone and credit cards were stolen, with one of the cards being used later, totaling damages at $2,680.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 77 near Mena of a missing dog.

Arrested was Casey L. Parker, 29, of Mena, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct and a Warrant for Fraud.

July 11, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 24 near Cove of a missing calf, valued at $600.00.

Report from complainant on Highway 270 near the Acorn community of being threatened by an acquaintance.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

July 12, 2014

Report from complainant on Highway 71 South near Wickes of the theft of a firearm valued at $450.00.  Investigation continues.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Eric P. Gilhousen, 50, of Mena, on Charges of DWI and Driving Left of Center.

Report from complainant on Polk 78 near the Potter community led to a 13-year-old Mena male and a 10-year-old Mena male each being issued Juvenile Citations for Criminal Trespass.  The juveniles were released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Eva M. Bargas, 51, of Mena, on Charges of Speeding and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License and a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

July 13, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 42 near the Potter community of the theft of a trolling motor valued at $159.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 36 near Hatfield of an alleged assault by an acquaintance.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Reid Lane near Mena of the theft of a mobile home, valued at $1,000.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 74 near the Ink community of the theft of tools valued at $807.95.  Investigation continues.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Tina R. Sipes, 45, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

Report from a Mena woman of problems with a child custody exchange.  Officer advised complainant of legal options.

Report from complainant on Polk 74 near the Ink community of an unauthorized person attempting to gain entry into a residence led to the arrest of Tyler R. Head, 18, of Mena, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct and Possession of Intoxicating Liquor by a Minor.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked four vehicle accidents this week.

Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 30 Incarcerated Inmates; 12 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility, of which 3 are currently out of jail on a monitoring system.
