Polk County Sheriff’s Department: June 16-22, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of June 16 – June 22, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

June 16, 2014

Arrested was a 16-year-old Mena male on a Warrant for Rape.

Arrested was Dace E. Fitzmaurice-Payne, 21, of Mena, on a Jasper County, Missouri Warrant.

Report of a deceased person in a residence on Highway 88 East near Mena.  The body was released to the County Coroner.

Report of two Mena youths finding a used syringe at a cemetery in the Acorn community.  Officer advised the parent to have the juveniles checked out medically to ensure their well being.

Report from complainant on Highway 88 East near Mena of the break-in and theft of a television, knife and cash.  Investigation continues.

June 17, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of damage to a vehicle mirror while parked at a business on Highway 71 North near Mena.  Investigation continues.

Report from Mena Regional Health System of a juvenile dog bite victim.  Officer advised the owner to keep the dog up for ten days and to observe it for unusual behavior.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Charles L. Grahn, 45, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

June 18, 2014

Report from a Mena woman that her 17-year-old son was missing.  The juvenile was later found.

Report from complainant on Fairwood Lane near the Yocana community of receiving threatening phone calls.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Kelly W. Nix, 53, of Chester, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

June 19, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 21 near Cove of the unauthorized use of a vehicle and a domestic disturbance.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested was Marlena F. Parnell, 45, of Mena, on a Warrant for four counts of Violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

June 20, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 95 near the Rocky community of the theft of $120 cash from their residence.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 626 near the Nunley community of the theft of tools from a barn, all valued at $700.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Highway 71 South near the Potter community of the theft of an antique sign, valued at $800.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Rodgers Drive in Cove.  Suspect had left the residence when officers arrived.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Michael Dunn, 22, of Grannis, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

June 21, 2014

Report from complainant on Butler Circle in Hatfield of $25.00 in damages to a screen door.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Lee Lane near Mena of the theft of two firearms, valued at $450.00.  Investigation continues.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Michael A. Martinez, 31, of Dequeen, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center, Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License, No Seatbelt and Refusal to Submit.

June 22, 2014

No reports were filed.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked three vehicle accidents this week.

Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 27 Incarcerated Inmates; 10 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility, of which 3 are currently out of jail on a monitoring system.
