Polk County Sheriff’s Department – March 10 – 16, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of March 10 – March 16, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

March 10, 2014

Report of a 15-year-old Mena male making threats towards other individuals led to the youth being issued a Juvenile Citation for Terroristic Threatening 2nd Degree.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Request for a welfare check in the Cherry Hill area.  Officer responded, transported individual to Mena Regional Health System.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Cove.  Officer responded, transported one of the involved parties to another residence.

Report from complainant on Polk 216 near Wickes of the theft of tools, valued at $500.00.  Tools were later returned by an unknown individual.

March 11, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 168 near the Potter community of an individual that had violated an Order of Protection.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in further consideration for a warrant.

Report from walk-in complainant of an unknown individual using their identity.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Joshua A. Heifner, 33, of Wickes, on Warrants for two counts of Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was Andrzej R. Rataj, 66, of Cove, on a Warrant for Violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Loretta L. Crabtree, 46, of Grannis, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order and a Miller County Warrant.

March 12, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of being threatened and harassed by an individual.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Highway 71 South near Cove of the break-in and theft of electrical wire, valued at $10.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 57 near the Nunley community of the theft of a firearm, valued at $350.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Cearley Lane near Mena.  One of the involved parties was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

March 13, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 47 near the Shady Grove community that someone had ran through their fence, causing $100.00 in damages.  Investigation continues.

March 14, 2014

Arrested was Mark L. Fussell, 30, of Mena, on Warrants for Failure to Comply with a Court Order and Failure to Appear.

Report from complainant on Highway 246 East near Vandervoort of the theft of a firearm, valued at $100.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from a business in Cove of the theft of $25.00 in gasoline.  Suspect was located and returned to the business to pay for the fuel.  Complainant refused to press charges.

Arrested was Jona L. Rogers, 33, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Report from a Mena woman of being inappropriately touched by an individual.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of suspicious activity led to a 13-year-old Cove male being issued Juvenile Citations for Possession of an Instrument of Crime and Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

Report from complainants on Polk 301 near the Cherry Hill community of receiving harassing phone calls and texts.  Officer advised all involved parties to cease contact.

Arrested was Kelly W. McCarley, 34, of Cove, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Arrested by a law enforcement officer with the U.S. Forest Service was Daniel D. Howard, 33, of Hatfield, on Charges of Possession of an Instrument of Crime and Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance with the Purpose to DeliverAlso arrested was Crystal L. Davis, 30, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver and No Liability Insurance.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Daniel O. Flowers, 52, of Lowell, on Charges of DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Fleeing and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.

March 15, 2014

Report of a disturbance on Polk 301 near the Cherry Hill community.  Officer advised all parties of legal options and to cease contact.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Cynthia L. Rocha, 28, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Timothy D. Craig, 28, of Cove, on a Charge of DWI.

Arrested was Douglas J. Turner, 34, of Vandervoort, on a Warrant for Theft by Receiving.

March 16, 2014

Arrested was John A. Davis, 25, of Hatfield, on a Warrant for Violation of a Protection Order.

Report of problems with a 15-year-old Mena male led to the youth being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Traffic stop on Highway 8 East near Mena led to the arrest of Jimmy C. Howard, 64, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center and No Driver’s License.
