Polk County Sheriff’s Department – March 17 – 23, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of March 17 – March 23, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

March 17, 2014

Report of a disturbance led to a 13-year-old Mena male being issued a Juvenile Citation for Battery 3rd Degree.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report of a disruptive 13-year-old Mena female led to the youth being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from complainant on Polk 647 near Mena of the theft of a check, totaling losses at $40.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of an unauthorized person on Polk Street in Mena led to the arrest of Brandon R. Falls, 28, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Trespass and Breaking or Entering.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Highway 4 West near Cove.  One of the parties was transported to another residence for the evening.

March 18, 2014

Report of suspicious behavior led to a 15-year-old Mena female being issued a Juvenile Citation for Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from complainant on Blair Lane near Mena of the theft of a water heater and electrical wire, all valued at $500.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from walk-in complainant of the unauthorized use of a debit card.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Michael D. Blakely, 33, of Nixa, MO, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Traffic stop on Highway 71 South in Mena led to the arrest of Crystal L. Davis, 30, of Mena, on Charges of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, No Vehicle License and No Liability Insurance.

Report of a domestic disturbance led to a 14-year-old Mena female being issued Juvenile Citations for Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Domestic Battery 3rd Degree.

Arrested was Gaylon D. Sides, 61, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with Reporting Requirements.

March 19, 2014

Traffic stop on Polk 31 near Cove led to the arrest of Brandon Riddle, 22, of Cove, on Charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st Degree, Fleeing, Reckless Driving, No Child Safety Restraint and Refusal to Submit to Arrest.

March 20, 2014

No reports were filed.

March 21, 2014

Report from complainant on Hilton Lane near Mena of an animal that had been shot.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Highway 375 West near Mena of the theft of a cell phone, valued at $200.00.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 198 near the Yocana community led to the arrest of Michael W. Williams, Sr., 42, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Arrested was James R. Grossman, 50, of Mena, on two Body Attachment Warrants.

Arrested was Dustin W. Lane, 20, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

Arrested was Melissa D. Turpin, 39, of Jenks, OK, on a Warrant for Residential Burglary and Theft of Property.

March 22, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of an alleged assault.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Traffic stop on Highway 71 South near Cove led to the arrest of Jesse S. T. Lively, 20, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on Highway 71 South near Hatfield.  The victim was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

Arrested was Skiliera E. Brock, 23, of Mena, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

March 23, 2014

Report from complainant on Highway 8 East in the Big Fork community of problems with a neighbor’s dogs.  Officer responded, advised parties of legal options.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Eve Street in Mena led to the arrest of Joshua A. Ward, 36, of Mena, on Charges of Domestic Battery 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.

Report from complainant on Polk 36 near Hatfield of the theft of a vehicle key, valued at $5.00.  Investigation continues.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked three vehicle accidents this week.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints lately about another scam.  A company named Consumer Services Division offers an information packet, for a small fee, that will instruct you on how to search for monies that people and corporations are anxious to give away.  Please remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is!  Please don’t fall victim to this scheme for it is only a scam!!!
