Polk County Sheriff’s Department – March 3 – 9, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of March 3 – March 9, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

March 3, 2014

Report from complainant on Highway 71 South near Hatfield of the theft of four truck tires, valued at $1,200.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance led to a 15-year-old Wickes male being issued a Juvenile Citation for Battery 3rd Degree.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from a law enforcement agency in Louisiana of an alleged rape that occurred in Polk County.  Further investigation revealed that the alleged incident actually happened in McCurtain County,  Oklahoma.  The investigation was forwarded to McCurtain County authorities.

Arrested was Terry E. Duke, 48, of Cabot, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

March 4, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 76 East near Mena that an unknown person had kicked in a door, causing $50.00 in damages.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was John K. Robertson, 39, of Mena, on Warrants for Probation Violation, Failure to Comply with a Court Order and Failure to Appear.

March 5, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 633 near Cove of the theft of two trailers, an ATV, farm equipment, vehicle parts, and assorted metal items, all valued at $30,550.00.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

A 16-year-old Wickes male was issued a Juvenile Citation for Obstructing Governmental Operations.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from complainant on Amber Lane near Mena of problems with a neighbors’ animals.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

March 6, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 671 near Mena of a break-in, causing $100.00 in damages to a door.  Nothing appeared to be missing.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 689 near Mena of a dog bite victim.  Officer advised the owner to quarantine the animal for ten days for observation.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Christopher W. Parnell, 31, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Careless/Prohibited Driving and No Liability Insurance.

March 7, 2014

Report from complainant on Hatton Lane near the Hatton community of the theft of jewelry, valued at $6,000.00.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

March 8, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of problems with a child custody issue.  Officer advised party of legal options.

Report from complainant on Polk 50 near the Potter community of the theft of a table and chairs, valued at $1,200.00.  Investigation continues.

Traffic stop on Polk 116 near Mena led to the arrest of Nathan L. Smith, 19, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Operating an ATV on the Highway and Fleeing.  Also arrested was Cody R. Hosman, 22, of Mena, on Charges of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Operating an ATV on the Highway and Fleeing.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Sabrina J. Miranda, 26, of Grannis, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

March 9, 2014

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 36 near Hatfield led to the arrest of Kurtis L. Walston, 28, of Hatfield, on a Charge of Battery 3rd Degree.

Report of a pedestrian versus vehicle accident on Highway 270 West near the Rich Mountain community.  The victim was transported to Mena Regional Health System, and then on to another medical facility.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked one vehicle accident this week.
