On Monday night, February 12th, the Mena Bearcat senior boys basketball team traveled to Joe T. Robinson, to take on the hosting Senators, in the first round of the 7-4A Conference Basketball Tournament.
The Bearcats kept Robinson fairly close in the opening quarter, as the Senators outscored Mena by only five, 13-8. Both teams played tight in the second, as Robinson just narrowly outscoring the Bearcats 15-14, to take a six point, 28-22, lead into halftime.
Harris led Robinson with 7 points at the half, while Blake Seals led the Bearcats with 12 points.
Mena outscored the Senators 12-11 in the third quarter, to shorten Robinson’s lead to five, 39-34, going into the fourth. In the fourth and final quarter of play, the Senators absolutely ran away with the game, outscoring Mena 23-12, to win by sixteen, and make the final score 62-46.
The Robinson Senators were led in scoring by Harris with 13 points, as Porter scored 11 points, McGraw 10 points, C. Bush 9 points, Kelley 8 points, Johnson 7 points, and Tombs and J. Bush 2 points each.
Connor Harvey led the Mena Bearcats with 21 points on the night, while Blake Seals added on 19 points of his own, Brock Strother 4 points, and Daniel Davis 2 points.
