Severe storms hit the state Friday night and Saturday morning. Polk County did not receive any significant damage. Some residents did lose power, but it was restored by the end of the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, four tornadoes were confirmed as of Sunday night. The strongest tornado was an EF-2 that hit near Midway in Logan County. The other three were EF-1’s and were detected in the Seaton Community in Lonoke County, near Ozark in Franklin County, and near Jerome in Drew County.
SWEPCO had an extra 150 employees on stand-by in anticipation of the bad weather.
