Silver “Tad” Irland Ramzy Jr., age 60, of Mena, Arkansas died Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Mena Regional Health System. He was born on Thursday, January 8, 1953 to Silver Irland Sr. and Willo Dennard Ramzy in Lakeland, Florida.
At the age of 17, Tad entered in the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He was a true patriot and always was very proud American. Tad was a very funny and generous person, willing to help someone in need. Tad enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and watching Nascar. Tad was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music and going to shoot guns at the shooting range. Tad was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father Silver Irland Sr. and one stepson Ray Riley.
Tad is survived by his wife Laura Ramzy of Mena; his mother Willo Ramzy of Mena; one son Silver “Trey” Irland Ramzy III of Felicity, Ohio; one daughter Stephanie Kirkpatrick of Jacksboro, Texas; one step son Nat Riley of Newport, Arkansas; two step daughters Amanda Reid of Mena and Catherine Ulmer of Austin, Texas; one brother Sterling Ramzy of New Boston, Texas; two sisters June Neldon of Mena and Freda Patee of Abilene, Texas; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Sterling Ramzy, Michael Ramzy, Matthew Ramzy, L.M. Patee, William Patee and Johnny Neldon.
