The Arkansas Highway Commission has begun work on a few roadways in South Polk County this week, with some causing detours for citizens Wickes and Cove.
In Wickes, Mayor Leon McCleskey said Wednesday through Friday, June 7th – 9th, their residents will need to use alternate routes to avoid road closures on County Road 8, from Hwy. 71 to the city limits, and on County Road 485, from Hwy. 71 to the city limits.
The resurfacing of Lewis Street and a section of West Barton Avenue in Cove has also begun and was expected to be wrapping up around mid-week. According to Cove Mayor Joan Headley, West Barton Street was expected to be closed on Tuesday to receive overlay work and Lewis Street is expected to be closed on Wednesday.
The Highway Commission’s roadwork in Wickes and Cove is expected to wrap up within the next few days.
