Students Seek to Interview Veterans for Upcoming Programs

Two of Polk County’s EAST classrooms are in the planning and developing stages for Veteran’s Day Celebrations in November. Both Mena Middle School EAST and Cossatot River High School EAST are not only inviting veterans to the program, they each wish to interview veterans prior to the events and collect pictures and memorabilia to use.

The CRHS EAST Program will host a “What’s In Your Attic Event” for all local Veterans and their families to bring in any pictures, letters, medals, uniforms, memorabilia, etc., for them to scan copies, and print or 3D-print replicas to help preserve the history of local Veterans and their service to the community and country.

CRHS EAST will also have a room set up for students to interview any Veterans or family members that would like to share their stories as well as a special scanning station set up to scan any 35 mm slides, 35 mm film strips, medium format film, and 4″ x 5″ film.  It will be a come and go as you’re able to event in the Cossatot River High School Library on Wednesday, September 27th & Thursday, September 28th from 9:00am – 3:00pm.   After the event, the EAST students will begin preparing a display for the Wickes Veteran’s Day Program on Wednesday, November 8th to display as many items from the “What’s In Your Attic Event” as possible.
