Sybil Lou Shrum, age 80 of Mena, Arkansas, died, Sunday, November 25, 2018 at her home. She was born on Saturday, June 25, 1938 to Robert Lee and Vivian Perry Cottman in Mena, Arkansas.
Sybil was a Godly woman of the Baptist faith. She owned and operated the Ozark Inn for twenty-two years and served on the Mena Police Department in the 1970’s. Sybil especially loved her family and beloved dog, “Tiny”. She enjoyed collecting Irises and raising Pekingese dogs. Sybil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Karlton Parnell; one son in law, John Brown; one brother, Bobby Cottman; and one sister, Maggie Cottman.
Sybil is survived by her husband, Loyd Shrum of Mena; one daughter, Karla Brown of Mena; two grandchildren, Chris Parnell of Yocana, and Curtis Parnell of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Concord Cemetery in Ink, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. No visitation is planned at this time.
