Watercolor Workshop at Mena Art Gallery

BY BARBARA M. TOBIAS –

Thursday, April 21, through Saturday, April 23, Mena Art Gallery will host a watercolor workshop led by Carol Flori of Texarkana. Carol is a member of the Arkansas Arts Council and is an extremely talented painter and teacher. For more information, and to see many of her beautiful watercolors, go to http://carolscottageart.com/.

In the workshop, you will learn about paper, brushes, and the types of watercolor paints. You will also work on design, composition, values, shadows, backgrounds, and choosing colors.

The three-day class comes with a reference binder that you will use for years to come in developing your skill with watercolors. Carol has a light-hearted approach to painting, and says that the main point of the class is to have fun!

The workshop will run from 9 am to 4 pm; the cost, including the reference binder, is $200 per person. To register, call Julie Vande Zande at Mena Art Gallery, 479-394-3880. Even better, stop by the gallery at 607 Mena Street during regular gallery hours: 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesdays and 10 am to 3 pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays. You can have a look at the binder and get more of your questions answered.
